Major Project - Effects Of Living On Mars

I've just had some great information back from Nicole who is the education coordinator at the Mars Society - http://www.marssociety.org .

Here's a run down of some of the points she made for the the changes that could happen to humans living on Mars.

The atmospheric pressure on Mars is far less than Earth. This might cause humans to become more barrel chested like the humans living high in the Andes Mountains.
On Mars they may grow much taller, with weaker bones and less muscle mass.

For the new Martians to be about to visit Earth the possible support that they would require could be -

An eoskeleton would probably be necessary or some type of automated transport like a segway transporter commonly seen in malls and amusement parks these days.

This has given me some great ideas and hopefully in the next week or so I can start to work on some anatomy sketches.

  1. From this I'm looking into the effects of the lower atmostheric pressure on Mars. I've found this paper on 'Genetic approaches to understanding human adaptation to altitude in the Andes' http://jeb.biologists.org/content/204/18/3151.full.pdf
